She has previously served in many leadership capacities for APRR including Secretary, Vice President of Community Affairs, Scholarship Committee, Pharmacology Committee, Provider Mixer Committee, Nurse Practitioner Week Committee, Wine Down Wednesday Committee and the Community Service Committee. She has done a fabulous job over the past several years in supporting APRR and the nurse practitioners and advanced practice professionals of the River Region. She also believes in partnerships with other organizations to enhance the role and scope of advance practice health care professionals. She is an active member of NPAA and would like to continue to foster APRR's relationship with NPAA.

Vice President of Education and Technology

Shaneka Feagin

My name is Shaneka Feagin. I'm 28 years old, and I'm from Georgiana, AL. I have been a nurse for almost 6 years. My nursing background includes cardiovascular step-down, home health, and long-term care. I obtained my BSN from Auburn University at Montgomery in December 2018, and my MSN from Walden University in May 2024. My certification is Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, and I currently work as a Sexual Health Nurse Practitioner for the Montgomery County Health Department. Fun fact, my job is a pilot job, and I am the first Sexual Health Nurse Practitioner for the Alabama Department of Public Health!
I am a proud member of multiple amazing professional organizations. These organizations include the Nurse Practitioner Alliance of Alabama, the Junior League of Montgomery, the Alabama State Nurses Association, and our beloved Advanced Practitioners for the River Region.
I currently reside in Montgomery, AL, with my boyfriend and cat. My hobbies include creating social media content, doing arts and crafts, boxing, and walking. I have a blog and a Facebook group geared to provide tips and advice to Nurse Practitioner students throughout school and post-graduation. I post daily board review-styled questions, helpful mnemonics, pictures, and charts in the Facebook group to help them prepare for boards. I also post TikToks about my journey as a new grad Nurse Practitioner.
Vice President of Community Affairs
Deray Williams
DeRay Jr. Williams is a committed Family Nurse Practitioner with extensive experience
in nursing and healthcare management. His journey began in 2005 at Southern
Community College in Tuskegee, Alabama, where he earned his diploma as a Practical
Nurse and became licensed in Alabama in 2007. He then advanced his nursing career
at Virginia College Montgomery, obtaining an Associate of Science in Nursing in 2011,
followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain University in 2013.
DeRay’s nursing background encompasses a wide range of specialties, including Med-
Surg, Telemetry, Step-down Unit, CCU, ICU, Home Health, and Clinical Instruction. In
2016, he furthered his education by earning a Master of Science in Nursing at
Chamberlain University and became certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner. His clinical
expertise focuses on Geriatric/Internal Medicine and Family Practice, with valuable
experience gained at AFC American Family Care and Community Hospice. Since July
2019, he has been practicing at the Community Medical Arts Center in Tallassee,
Alabama, where he remains dedicated to providing exceptional care to his patients.
Passionate about nurturing future healthcare professionals, DeRay has had the
privilege of serving as a preceptor for several nurse practitioners. He actively
participates in the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), the Nurse
Practitioner Alliance of Alabama (NPAA), and Advanced Practitioner for the River
Region. Additionally, he is a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi, Inc., a fraternity
renowned for its dedication to community service and excellence.

My favorite quote: "True success lies not only in our personal achievements but in the
impact, we have on inspiring others to reach their potential."
Secretary
Nikki Lynch
Nikki Lynch is a current active member of APRR and has served as the secretary for one complete term. She would like to seek a second term to continue to work with APRR and the Board to enhance the advance practice role in the community of the River Region. She firmly believes that advance practice has improved healthcare in Alabama and with a unity front we will continue to enhance health care for the citizens of our great state. She has served on several APRR committees to include Pharmacology Committee, Scholarship Committee, Wine Down Wednesday Committee, Provider Mixer Committee, Nurse Practitioner Week Committee, and Community Service Committee. She is also an active member of NPAA. She believes that collaboration with other professional organizations enhance our power and efforts moving healthcare forward.
