New Rules for Collaborating Physician/NPs and Prescribing Weight Loss Medications
New rule changes for collaboration and oversight have been filed and will be in effect 8/6/15. In addition to other changes, the new rules will institute quarterly NP:MD collaboration, in lieu of the monthly oversight, for NPs who have more than two years (4,000 hours) of collaborative practice experience. Also, they increased a Collaborating Physician's FTEs with NPs to 160 hours per week (or 4 full-time NPs per Colaborating Physician).
For those CRNPs in Alabama who have a valid QACSC, you will be able to prescribe the weight loss medications Qsymia and Belviq effective 7/23/15.
